Hidden tricks to help you get Rs. 600 off your airtickets

Cleartrip, one of my favourite travel aggregator websites has a new trick up its sleeve to give you discounts. Cleartrip has a lovely and clean mobilephone interface as well, which comes up if you use www.cleartrip.com via your smartphone’s browser. If you decide to book a roundtrip flight using your phone, you get another discount code ‘CTM’ which is valid for use till 31st March 2012. Using this, you get another Rs. 600 off your tickets apart from any other discounts you would have already received (from the airline or from Cleartrip).

I tried using the same code in the website for Cleartrip, and it gave an error.

Since the need to go somewhere obviously takes over, I booked a ticket for Mumbai – Delhi – Mumbai on Jet Airways using the codes, and it worked out fine!

So, while Cleartrip tries to promote the use of its Mobile interface using discounts, you surely should try using your phone to get that discount!

  1. I think 300-400 INR Discounts are available plenty in India due to onslaught of so many sites over the past few years and their tieups with different banks and cards.

So the tough thing for a penny pincher like me is going to multiple sites, seeing all their offers and seeing what each fare would look like.

Yatra has 30% or max 325 bucks off a single booking if you are a ICICI customer. You need to book each leg for each person separately if you want to get max value. Because of the 325 limit, 30% promo is just a gimmick

Jet Airways has 12% (off entire fare) if you are a SBI card customer .. This can save you ~ 700 on a 6000 INR fare

I had to book 3 return flights – BOM-IXC (5 one ways on Yatra and 1 on Jet )and ended up saving ~ 2300 INR.

Bottomline :- If you have the time and patience to browse through these sites, you can save a bunch
