Uber launches in Mumbai & offers 2 free rides

Uber has been going around India and I have been keenly looking forward for their launch in Mumbai, the city I call home now. The good news is, they just went into Secret Uber phase today, which means they have launched a few cabs in Mumbai already.

While I write this post from my first Uber Mumbai ride, which is an uneventful Toyota Innova, the fares seem very competitive at least at this stage (they may go up later). The base fare to start the trip is INR 100, and you pay INR 17 per kilometre and INR 2 per minute of the ride. This is cheaper than Ola Luxury for sure, which I previewed recently.

At this moment, they have Audi A8, Mercedes E-Class and Toyota Innova as some of the vehicles in their fleet.

Get INR 300 Uber Credit and 2 free rides

First and foremost, if you haven’t signed up for Uber, you can sign up using my referral link here. You get INR 300 to be adjusted against your rides with them, and I get a similar amount too. Remember, you need a iOS or Android based smartphone, a credit card on file with them and you’re set. Your amount is directly debited to your credit card and you don’t have to make a cash transaction. For those of you who are circumspect, well, I’ve had my CC on file with them since September 2013 and nothing goes wrong.

After you’ve signed up, you can use UberMumbaiLaunch as your promotional code to get two free rides worth upto INR 500 in your account, valid till March 31, 2014. Remember, you can always bill more than INR 500, but the remaining amount gets charged to your credit card.

Now off to enjoy the rest of my ride back home this evening.

    • @Rajat, they will come to Chembur soon I hope. the launch code allows you to get two free rides unto INR 500 each, but not separate credit. so if you make a ride worth 600 then you only pay 100 in case one of those rides are being used.
