American Airlines just released a new Facebook based challenge game, where for playing a game of trivia, which would take about 15 minutes, you get 700 miles posted to your AAdvantage account. If you choose to share with your online social circle, you get another 350 miles. And if you choose to fly American Airlines, US Airways and other oneworld partners during the duration of the challenge (which lasts up to May 23, 2014), you get up to 9000 bonus AA miles.

Like you will see below, you get 50 miles for a lot of small activities each, and then you get bigger challenges which get you bigger miles on this game (for example, 500 miles to fly US Airways, 500 miles to fly non-AA/US oneworld partners and 2500 miles for a personalised beat your EQP goal)
The game hardly took me 15 minutes to complete, and I’d earned 525 miles in the process because I won’t spam my friends for 50 miles or so (I might for a million!). @AJ, Thanks. Between AA and Cathay (flying Cathay and earning on AA), it seems not all booking classes will earn AA miles, but they do earn Cathay miles.

Is safe to assume: If I fly a airline (call A) and credit the miles in another airline (call B) in the alliance, then the # of miles earned will be same irrespective of airline A or B program?
If I fly Cathay regularly & credit the miles AA, I will neither earn status in AA or Cathay. Is it right?
@Rajiv the airlines have agreements amongst themselves to decide the number of miles and wether these will be elite qualifying or not. For instance, flying Cathay and credit to American will get you elite qualifying miles because they are oneworld members both. However flying klm and credit to Jet will not result in miles that count for status.
AJ, so I fly one of the oneworld members and earn the miles in AA to get this benefit? I am wondering, why someone based on this part of the world choose to AA among the oneworld members and not one of asian-based oneworld airlines.
@Rajiv, AA perhaps has the best oneworld program from all oneworld partners. additionally if one can get status on them, even better. Cathay has a lot of good benefits for top tiers, but redemption is horrible on their program and includes fuel surcharges as well sometimes. Hence I credit to AA. For Instance, BOM-JFK first class on AA redemption is 90K AA miles, as compared to maybe 150K or so Cathay miles etc (I don’t have the chart on hand but it is closer to that number)
