I guess there is not much suspense left in this one, but I am still not saying it is done till it is done. If you remember, one of the earliest posts on this blog was about Air India being jilted from the Star Alliance. Now, their is much begging, pleasing and a lot of backroom action that has happened in line up to today’s meeting of the CEO board of Star Alliance, where Air India’s membership for the Star Alliance will be voted upon the second time in seven years. Word is expected later this evening about the outcome.

Air India joining the Star Alliance not just gives Star Alliance members access to facilities and flights of Air India in India along with member recognition and benefits, but would also mark the first time an airline in India would be in an alliance, and hence, Indian flyers would get a comprehensive benefits package flying around India and abroad as an alliance member. Me, personally, am a prospective Star Alliance Gold level member since I have AI Gold status and collecting a lot of AI miles these days via credit cards.

So do you think Air India will make it through to Star Alliance or not this time around?

Will Air India's Star Alliance membership go through this time?

  • Yes (74%, 46 Votes)
  • No (26%, 16 Votes)

Total Voters: 62

To be honest I don’t see the benefits for *A. Int’l routes to the region are well covered by LH/LX to/from Europe and TG/BR/CA/OZ to/from Asia

OMG! Is Air India still in business?
