Marriott MegaBonus 2016: Get a free night for 2 nights and more…

Marriott has just announced its MegaBonus 2016 promotion. This is a new genie in the old bottle, as Marriott has been offering various different promotions over the years, but they have been called MegaBonus. Sometimes you get free nights, sometimes you get points for reaching certain milestones.

This year, Marriott has taken a new spin on customizing promotions however.  Most members have received an offer where they get a free night after two stays, and then they unlock a second offer which allows for more points to be earned after your first two stays.

Here is my offer:

  • Win #1: Earn a free night after two stays
  • Win #2: Unlock your new bonus points offer – and register when it appears in your online account
  • Win #3: Every stay counts at 4,000+ hotels worldwide

There are other offers floating around too, which include 10,000 points after 15 nights and 20,000 points upwards and so on, but I presume those are for the high rollers, i.e., very frequent guests at Marriott.

You earn a free night, valid for a free night at a Marriott category 1-5 property,  when you complete 2 stays at any  Marriott or Ritz Carlton category 1-5 property. Bear in mind that only 1 free night can be earned per member during the MegaBonus offer period. This free night, is valid for 6 months from the date of being credited to your account. The important thing to remember is, you cannot redeem your free night at a Ritz Carlton.

The promotion is valid on stays between February 1, 2016 until May 15, 2016, however registration must be completed by April 15, 2016. Here is the link to register.

Marriott already has 33 hotels around India, and many more in the pipeline. Last year, we used a couple of our free nights at the brand new JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove and Spa, which is a category 4 property.

Bottomline: I am still assessing my travel plans to figure out which hotel promotion will I go after in the coming quarter, but this promotion has the potential for you to redeem your full money on two stays. For instance, two one-night stays each at a Courtyard hotel for INR 4,000 each will get you a redemption at Mussoorie for a resort that goes at least INR 14,000 a night.

What have been your promotion offers from Marriott, and are you going after it?

  1. Did anyone unlock Win#2? I have made stays already with Marriott but the 2nd night is yet to reflect on my account, until then the Win#2 won’t open up, while I have stay coming up next week and need to decide whether I should book Marriott or something else?

  2. @April, you must have selected “Earn Miles” option in your account. Change that to “Earn Points” and you should be able to register.

  3. The terms define “stay” with the language “consecutive nights” (plural). I wanted to confirm that a one-nighter counts as a stay –
