Marriott Rewards to offer double elite nights credit

Marriott Rewards, the rewards program of Marriott Hotels, has launched a new promotion, under which they will offer Double Elite Night credits to members who complete stays between June and December 2016. This seems to be a targeted promotion, and one of the criteria to qualify for the promotion is to be having an address outside of the USA.

The promotion page, listed here, shares that the promotion is valid for stays made between June 06, 2016 to December 31, 2016. However, you need to sign up for the promotion by September 30, 2016 to be able to get double elite night credits.

Here is an official summary of the benefits you get per tier and how many nights you need to spend to qualify. You can also access this page to see the details.

Of course, Marriott does not have the strongest of benefits amongst the chains, however, they do have a big reach, which is the reason they don’t need to have a large spread of benefits for their elites. As a repurcussion of this promotion, they are definitely making their tiers much more accessible.

  • Silver at 5 nights
  • Gold at 25 nights
  • Platinum at 38 nights

This is even below Hyatt Gold Passport’s requirements to qualify for Diamond, and much appreciated.

Bottomline

This is a good effort from Marriott if you receive it, since it will help you earn status quicker for the year ahead. This definitely is Marriott fighting to keep its turf, where Hyatt and Hilton are trying to poach their members via status matches.

Have you received this promotion from Marriott Rewards? Will you be making use of this promotion?
