JetPrivilege JPMiles usually are valid for 13 quarters, unless redeemed before that or else they expire. One of the easier way to get a longer validity of two more years on those miles is for you to get a JetPrivilege co-branded card. As long as you have a co-branded debit/credit card and one activity on the said card, you get two years more for your miles to expire. This works great in case you are accumulating miles towards a certain goal.

One of the cheapest cards out there, which also earns you JPMiles and gets you lounge access, is the HDFC Bank JetPrivilege co-branded debit card. The card comes for only INR 500 + taxes fee per annum, and is free for the first year for Classic, Imperia and Preferred members, apart from JetPrivilege Platinums. In this case, you get 1000 JPMiles to set up your debit card, and 2000 JPMiles for the first transaction. Every year, you get 2000 JPMiles on renewal of the card and your first transaction after that. Along comes an INR 750 discount voucher for a round trip, and a 5% discount on base fare for domestic and international tickets on jetairways.com.

If you set up the new card by June 30, 2016, when you upgrade via your NetBanking account, you also get another 500 JPMiles bonus on renewal as well. Here is how you can go about it. Once you log into your HDFC Bank account, you go to the Cards menu. From the sidebar, click on Debit Card > Transact > Debit Card Upgrade. Select your existing debit card, and you come to the options screen.

Select the JetDC option, and input your JetPrivilege number. Your card should be on its way and with you within 4 days usually. That is how long it took for mine to arrive. And it is free for the first year too!

If you are not looking to spend a lot of money but still earn JPMiles, this is the card for you. No interest rates, no extra spending over the amount in your bank account. Just spend as much as you earn.
