Emirates’ plane catches fire at Dubai Airport

There is an unfortunate incident that seems to be happening on the about the time Emirates is celebrating the 8th anniversary of the first flight of their A380s. It seems a Boeing 777 plane, flying from Thiruvananthapuram as EK521 landed without landing gear, and caught fire.

Emirates confirmed the occurrence of an incident on their Twitter feed.

According to FlightRadar24, no takeoffs or landings right now from Dubai Airport are taking place due to this event.

It is reported that the passengers were safely evacuated. More news is awaited. Let’s hope everyone is okay.

Update: Emirates updated that there were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board. All passengers and crew are safe. They are expecting a 8-hour network wide delay owing to this incident. Also, here are the phone numbers for family and friends.
