Singapore Airlines to launch new Suites & Business Class on November 2

Singapore Airlines Suites are one of my favorite product in the sky. They debuted on the first flight of Singapore Airlines A380s ten years ago in 2007 to Sydney. And now, SQ has decided they want to revamp the Suites product as they bring in new A380s into their fleet. Remember, Singapore Airlines was the launch customer of the A380, so a lot has changed since they started flying the whale jets.

The rumors have been floating around for a very long while now, however Singapore Airlines has not gotten further than confirming a re-launch of the product was on the cards so far. However, it seems finally the dust is settled and the cat is out of the bag.

The New Singapore Airlines Suites Class

First and foremost, Singapore Airlines will launch the new SQ Suites and Business Class product on November 2 in an international media launch, as per AusBT. This launch would also include the launch of the new premium economy and economy class products of the carrier, resulting in a complete redesign of all 4 cabins in the SQ A380.

A seatmap which was out there on the SQ website temporarily before being pulled again indeed gives us a few clues, although unofficially.

Firstly, the airline will continue to offer closed door suites going forward, however, there will now be only 6 suites instead of the existing 12 on the various A380s flying around. This almost leaves the door open to bigger suites in the cabin, given that more innovation has been done since SQ’s launch and middle-east carrier Etihad now offers a whole Apartment and Residence in the air.

Second, this indicates the Suites Class is moving to the Upper Deck, and will be followed by 76 Business Class seats behind it, making it one whole deck of premium cabin seats. There should be a new seat there as well in Business Class, which could be the new standard for long-haul travel on Singapore Airlines.

Bottomline

SQ has been always at the forefront of innovation in terms of having a nice premium product, even in Economy class, and I’m sure this quiet behind the scenes work will also come up with something new and exciting for the carrier. We are surely looking forward to more details and finding out about the upcoming product.

What do you expect out of the new SQ Suites & other cabins? I’m excited to hear
