Hotel Review: Park Hyatt Hyderabad

I haven’t been around on the blog much, and when that happens, it means there are other things demanding a lot of my time. And amongst all that was going on, I really needed a quick break, so I decided to head to the Park Hyatt Hyderabad for a quick overnight trip last weekend, to check out the property as well as visit a city with great food. Given my schedule, I figured the best thing for me to do would be to arrive early in the morning and depart next afternoon giving me at least a full day in Hyderabad. As a Hyatt frequent guest, I really wanted to select a Hyatt property only, and I had heard lots…

Review: JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa

Like many regular readers would know, I chose to spend the last weekend at the almost new JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa. The resort opened in October 2014, and was on my wish list for a while. I had a couple of category 4 room nights expiring from last year’s Marriott Rewards Free Nights promotion which I earned from my Courtyard by Marriott Kochi stay, so I thought without the time to pop out of the country, this would be one of the best places to go with these room night certificates. I flew with Jet Airways to Delhi and then onwards to Dehradun Airport, and had a car I organised on my own to drive me…

JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove: I am floored!

Hello folks, and happy Hallmark day to all of you. I have to admit, I am a sucker for high end resorts, but ever since Hilton left me high and dry in Shillim a year and a half ago, I was not giving them much leeway to disappoint me again. A few months ago, JW Marriott opened a resort in Mussoorie, a hill station I am sure everyone who is in India and loves to travel has been to at some time or the other in their lives. Except, this one is the first 5 Star property in this part of the world. I arrived here yesterday for a short stay. After all, I have places to go and not…

Hotel Review: Sheraton Kuwait, A Luxury Collection Hotel

My go to hotel, while I am in Kuwait, is the Sheraton Kuwait Hotel. The Sheraton Kuwait, is a Starwood hotel, a Luxury Collection property which is somehow a splatter of almost all the Starwood brands out there. I’ll come to that in a moment. However, it is a hotel which has been very nice to me over my 5-6 stays with them over the years, in spite of the fact that I am only a SPG Gold member. My stays with them are usually a one night stay, and hotel prices in Kuwait are regulated, so I have never seen this hotel offering a price less than 85 Kuwaiti Dinar. However, for the price you pay, you also get…

Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Kolkata

A long weekend is an excuse to get out of town, and October 2-6 this year was one of those with a lot of holidays. With a lot of Bengali friends, I’ve heard great things about Kolkata during the Durga Puja season, and it was one of the things on my to do list. So, this year, it was a good time to make it happen. When I started to look for hotels, I eventually narrowed it down to the ITC Sonar or the Hyatt Regency, which are two hotels I’ve been wanting to go to for a while. Luckily for me, I spotted a very good deal at the Hyatt Regency Kolkata during the Monsoon Flash sale they held…

Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt, Mumbai

I’ve been spending a lot of time away from home recently, and I just wanted to spend some downtime over the a weekend. However, that was not going to be possible if I decided to stay home because something or the other would have been tugging for my attention. Owing to this, I decided to spend a weekend in the hotels, and I spent one night at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai, and another at the Hyatt Regency Mumbai. While I’d been to the Grand Hyatt Mumbai a lot of times, I’d never stayed there. So, after a long day at work, I headed straight to the hotel and arrived there about 6 PM. I landed up at the check-in desk…

Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Mumbai

Like I mentioned in this post, I really needed to get out of my house and get some downtime over the last weekend. So, I decided to check out the Hyatt Regency and the Grand Hyatt Mumbai over the weekend. Hyatt Regency is an airport hotel, while the Grand Hyatt is the suburban hotel in Mumbai. While I have been to the Grand Hyatt a few times to attend events or grab a bite, it was the first time I was going to be over at the Hyatt Regency Mumbai. I arrived at the hotel and went to the lobby check-in desk, where the hotel had a room ready for me. I was informed that I was booked in the…

Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Pune

After a nice stay at Hyatt Pune, I decided to hop across to Hyatt Regency Pune, the older and bigger brother in the Hyatt family in Pune, which is 1 kilometer away across the road for the second day of my Pune stay. As a Hyatt Diamond, they offer free airport transfers, and I asked them if they could replace it with a ride from Hyatt Pune. They were okay with it and sent a car along at the appointed time. I pulled into Hyatt Regency Pune, and it was every bit a five star hotel, in terms of size and facilities. However, in the end, it turned out that they went as much as the distance they had to…

Hotel Review: Hyatt Pune

A few weeks ago, Hyatt launched a Monsoon promotion in India, where they offered a flat 50% off on room rates. This forced me to do some advance planning for some of my future travel plans, and I gladly gave them away to Hyatt since it gave me an opportunity to try out properties at significantly less than publicly available prices. One of the places I headed up to was Pune, for some quick rest & recuperation and meeting my brother who currently lives in Pune. Me and my fiancée got into Pune about mid-day from Mumbai, and we checked into the hotel straight away, after trying out Uber for the first time in Pune. Hyatt Hotels is a full…

Hotel Review: Hyatt Place Amsterdam Airport

I recently found myself on an extra night layover in the Netherlands, and while I usually stay put at the Manhattan Hotel, Rotterdam, in this case, I decided to head to a hotel closer to the airport, since I had a very early morning flight to catch and I wasn’t sure if the railway service would be up and running at that hour. The choice boiled down to Hyatt Place since the Sheraton across the airport was quoting at 269 Euros that night, and that is expensive just to sleep a few hours. To get to Schipol Airport from Rotterdam Central, I used the train since the distances are large enough for a Euro 100 cab ride at least, and…
