Lufthansa’s A380 to Delhi takes off from today

A few days ago, I wrote about the teething troubles Lufthansa was facing with starting their A380 operations to India. First, their Mumbai plans got nixed with Emirates getting the slot. Then, someone threw the rulebook in their face and the paperwork to bring the A380 flights to Delhi was not completed in time for the winter schedule cutover, which was implemented a week ago. Anyhow, I’m glad to report the mess is now sorted, and Lufthansa is all set to fly their maiden A380 flight to Delhi today. Here is how the schedule will look like going forward for Lufthansa’s Delhi service with the A380. LH760 FRA1340 – 0130+1DEL 388 DLH761 DEL0330 – 0720FRA 388 D That makes Emirates,…

The Lufthansa A380 that did not make it to India

A380s are clearly the newest attractions for Indian flyers, ever since they were cleared for take off from select Indian airports. Singapore Airlines took the lead, then Emirates brought in their A380 to Mumbai. Earlier this year, Lufthansa had stated their intention to start operations for the A380 in India from the winter schedule, which got into effect from this past weekend. Lufthansa’s original plan was to start flights to Mumbai and Delhi on the A380, however they got a rude shock when the Mumbai slot was allocated to Emirates instead, after being promised to them. Mumbai at present only has 1 gate which can handle the A380 since the terminal is still under construction, and hence, capacity is limited.…

My Credit Card Strategy 2014 update

In the beginning of the year, I wrote my credit card strategy for 2014. I’ve been meaning to give a mid-year update, but not been able to do so far. Anyhow, lets take a look now at how things are going, and what may be the plan ahead. Here are the credit cards I already have, and my view on them. Citibank PremierMiles Visa (Keep): This is my favourite credit card all around, and if you’ve poked around this blog, you would have noticed I love this product. I intend to keep it and use it as my primary card to book airline tickets and make use of all the special Citibank promotions that come 3-4 times a year, such…

Last day for Miles & More 50K offer and few days to Citi INR 2500 referral

A couple of quick reminders for the day. Like I wrote a couple of weeks back, the Lufthansa Miles & More Axis Bank 50K miles offer returned briefly and today is the last day to apply. You get a lucrative sign-up bonus of Miles & More miles. Additionally, if you spend INR 5,00,000 on the World Select Card, you get an extra 20,000 M&M Miles. If you’re a HON Circle or Senator member, makes the most sense for you if you don’t have the card since for sign-up you’re getting 10K miles for free. Frequent Traveller Members get it for half the price. I don’t know if Axis would be flexible on the date but do set up an appointment…

Axis Bank took over the the Miles & More co-branded credit cards portfolio in Q1 2013, and had been offering an accelerated bonus of up to 20000 miles on signing up the card before March 15, 2014 and spending at certain benchmarks. Lufthansa considering bringing the A380 to India this year

While the initial reaction from most carriers about the new rules for the A380 in India was muted, airlines seem to be now coming out of the hiding to make a commitment to the Indian market, or so it seems. While Singapore Airlines seems to have a low-hanging fruit because of their recently concluded bilateral negotiations with India, it now seems that Lufthansa has also made up their mind to introduce the A380 in India within the year. Christopher Franz, the CEO of Lufthansa, made this statement earlier this week to Reuters: We are interested to use the A380 also for the major Indian markets The press also notes that Lufthansa planned to use the jet in India but the…

Lufthansa ties up with Axis Bank for Miles & More co-branded card

Lufthansa had a partnership with IndusInd Bank for the Miles & More co-branded credit card, something they got as a legacy of IndusInd inheriting Deutsche Bank’s credit card portfolio in India. However, this partnership is coming to an end on 30th June 2013, as per a new notice put out on IndusInd website. Like I mentioned above, the new partnership for the LH Miles & More credit card is materialising with Axis Bank. As an outcome of this, if you don’t switch to the new credit cards, your earlier earned miles on the IndusInd M&M cards start expiring. Axis is bringing out their M&M card in two variants, the M&M World Select & the M&M World card. The Select variant…
