PremierMiles is one of my most used credit card in India, and I definitely love it when they add more and more transfer partners. There has been a recent addition, and this is the Qatar Airways Privilege Club, where you can now transfer your PM for a 1:1 ratio.

To be sure, Qatar Airways is not exactly one of the best mileage programs out there, but with this addition, PremierMiles has 2 out of the big 3 Middle-East airlines in their club, all of which incidentally offer pretty sucky redemption values. Considering QR is a oneworld member, I’d have expected similar rates for redemption on their own metal as well as partners, but this is not the case. They charge more, for instance, to travel to London from Mumbai on BA than their own metal. And the difference is massive. So I’d advise you against using this program for your redemptions.

With this addition, here is how PremierMiles stacks up in terms of mileage transfer partners:

  • Star Alliance:
    • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
    • Royal Orchid Plus from Thai Airways
    • Eva Air’s Infinity MileageLands
    • Air India (to be inducted)
  • oneworld Alliance:
    • British Airways Avios
    • Asia Miles from Cathay Pacific
    • Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich
    • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Skyteam:
    • Delta Skymiles

They also have hotel partners in Hilton, IHG and Taj Inner Circle.

Just a reminder then, if you are interested in collecting more PremierMiles, there is a double PremierMiles on International Spends promotion going on at the moment.

Seems Citibank never wanted me to earn these 1000 PremierMiles so I never got this email. Anyhow, I requested a reader to forward me an email that Citibank has sent out to select group of their PremierMiles customers, who have recently been issued the new chip & pin credit cards.

To avail this offer, you first need to look up your mailbox to see if you have received an email from regarding this promotion. Only if you heard from Citi would you be eligible for the promotion.

You need to use your new Chip+Pin Citibank Premiermiles CC with a physical swipe machine (i.e., not over the internet or a phone system) before August 31, 2013 and authenticate using a PIN code to be able to receive these 1000 PremierMiles. The miles will be credited within a month of the promotion closing.

You can check out the details terms & conditions here [PDF].

Also remember to register for the Accelerated miles promotion while you are up to it.

In the last quarter of 2012, Citibank ran a promotion for the PremierMiles credit card holders, where the top 2000 spenders who registered for the promotion were going to get a double on their PremierMiles earned during the promotion period. Some of you should have received an email on these lines yesterday:

Double Miles Double Happiness

Congratulations! 25000 Bonus Miles have
been credited to your account!

Thank you for participating in the Double your Miles campaign for our PremierMiles credit cardholders.
We are happy to inform you that your card number ending with XXXX has been credited with 25000 Bonus Miles on 11th Feb 2013.
Looking forward to bring you more exciting offers this new year.

While PremierMiles have significantly devalued since their original days, even then, such promotions will continue to make it one of the better travel credit cards out there and my own personal go-to favourite. There is a new promotion for the travellers out there which was recently launched.

In case you are wondering what spends got those bonuses, these were in the Rs. 5.5 Lakh + range over 3 months.

For the existing Citibank PremierMiles customers, they would have received an email communication a few weeks back, announcing a new redemption rate of Rs. 50 per 100 PremierMiles. I’ve said more than enough about my love for the Citibank PremierMiles credit card. You can read the review here. I think getting into tourist season, coupled with the high prices of oil is forcing the hand of Citibank on the PremierMiles card. Citibank has revised redemption rates on some routes which are short-haul and have seen decreasing capacity from airlines (read increasing airfares), w.e.f. 1st October 2012. I notice that some of the routes […]
