Have Citibank PremierMiles and Jet Airways patched up?

It has been a rocky relationship for the past two years after Citibank and Jet Airways broke up. First, Jet Airways disallowed Citibank to offer redemptions on PremierMiles, which were significantly cheaper than Jet Airways’ own JP program. Then, overnight, JetPrivilege and Citibank cut ties on the transfer partnership for PremierMiles –> JetPrivilege Miles.  Endgame was the removal of Jet Airways flights from the PremierMiles portal and a new way to redeem for Jet Airways flights. Ultimately, Citi and Jet Airways slammed the door on each other by discontinuing their Ultima relationship as well. Things have been changing over the past few weeks though. May I say Time is the greatest healer. First, out of nowhere, I saw that Citi…

Reminder: 4 more days to get Citibank PremierMiles referrals

Earlier this month, I’d put out information about a great referral offer that was being run by Citibank for existing PremierMiles card holders, who can refer their friends and family for new Citibank PremierMiles credit cards. The referrer gets 5000 PremierMiles for each successful application they make, and this is capped at 5 PremierMiles cards referrals per card member. For taking up on this offer, the referrer has to generate and send out custom email links by September 30, 2014, while the receiver of the referral offer has up to October 31, 2014 to apply using that link and get approved for the credit card. In case you choose to apply for the card, you get 10000 PremierMiles in the…

My Credit Card Strategy 2014 update

In the beginning of the year, I wrote my credit card strategy for 2014. I’ve been meaning to give a mid-year update, but not been able to do so far. Anyhow, lets take a look now at how things are going, and what may be the plan ahead. Here are the credit cards I already have, and my view on them. Citibank PremierMiles Visa (Keep): This is my favourite credit card all around, and if you’ve poked around this blog, you would have noticed I love this product. I intend to keep it and use it as my primary card to book airline tickets and make use of all the special Citibank promotions that come 3-4 times a year, such…

The days of American style sign up bonuses are finally coming into India. There is a new promotion that has been sent out to members of Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program this morning, which gives you an extra 10,000 PremierMiles for spending at least INR 50,000 on the new card within 60 days of activation. While I have a review of the Citibank PremierMiles Credit Card I did in 2012, here is a quick summary of the features: All spend earn 4 PremierMiles per INR 100 spend Airline purchases and accelerated partner spends earn 10 PremierMiles per INR 100 spend. GoIbibo, Yatra, Raymonds, Bookmyshow are some of the accelerated spend partners. All PremierMiles convert to Airline miles in a 1:1 ratio…

Buy 2x LifeMiles till May 30 / earn 1 mile extra for every 5 you buy

LifeMiles is the mileage program of Avianca, and they joined the Star Alliance in 2012. Ever since, they’ve been the avenue to buy low cost miles in the Star Alliance program, and get into premium cabins at a reasonable price. In one of my posts in December last year, I’d advised my readers to sign up for the program, because they frequently do promotions where you can get 100% bonus miles. Now, for the past few days, uptil May 30, 2014, they are back with a 100% bonus promotion, where you would be able to buy miles at 1.5 USD cents per piece (about INR 0.90) for a total of 75000 miles which you can purchase. You get upto 150000…

Qatar Airways now transfer partners for PremierMiles

PremierMiles is one of my most used credit card in India, and I definitely love it when they add more and more transfer partners. There has been a recent addition, and this is the Qatar Airways Privilege Club, where you can now transfer your PM for a 1:1 ratio. To be sure, Qatar Airways is not exactly one of the best mileage programs out there, but with this addition, PremierMiles has 2 out of the big 3 Middle-East airlines in their club, all of which incidentally offer pretty sucky redemption values. Considering QR is a oneworld member, I’d have expected similar rates for redemption on their own metal as well as partners, but this is not the case. They charge…

Citi offering 2x PremierMiles on International Spends

You know it only too well. I love PremierMiles. There are at lease 2-3 times promotional spending periods during a year, and even otherwise I earn 10 miles per INR 100 on airline spends, and 4 miles per INR 100 spend on every other spend. The last time they offered double miles, I went home with another 50K extra miles since I figured in their top 5000 spenders. Each mile converts into one airline mile with 9 FFPs, or also converts with 3 hotel partners. I’d really like them to add Starwood and Hyatt to the list of hotel partners, but overall, it is a lovely card from my perspective. Now, they are back with an International spends promotion. Something…

Your Citibank Double Miles have posted

Citibank had launched a Double your Miles promotion in November 2013, where the top 5000 registered spenders were going to get upto 50,000 extra PremierMiles. The miles were going to be credited to the accounts of the top 5000 spenders by the 15th of March 2014. So, last night, I checked into my account by sending a text message “Rewards xxxx” to (+91 9880752484) where the xxxx were the last four digits of my Citibank PremierMiles credit card. And I noticed a bounty of an extra 49,000 PremierMiles in my account. So, if you registered for the Citibank PremierMiles Double Miles promotion in 2013, check your accounts and you’ll find out if you were the top 5000 spenders or not.…

My 2014 Credit Card Strategy

Last week, I wrote about my 2013 Mileage Credit Card strategy, where I told you guys I managed to get something about 264,000 miles basis credit cards issued in India for the full calendar year. For 2014, here are the credit cards I am looking at having in my wallet. Take note that while I intend to publish full reviews for each product at some point of time, it may be a while before I would be able to bring them all in the fold. To make it simple, I’ve updated my Mileage CC calculator for 2014 numbers, so have a look and see which is the best one for you. Here are the cards I already have, and I’ll…

Citibank PremierMiles cashback of INR 1000 for new cards

Citibank is running a very lucrative promotion for new signups for the PremierMiles credit card. Like you know, Citibank offers 10 PremierMiles/100 INR for airline bookings via airline offices & websites (including premiermiles.co.in). For other transactions, it is 4 PremierMiles/100 INR. You also get 10,000 PremierMiles for your first transaction of Rs. 1000 or more within 60 days of acquiring the card. PremierMiles can be transferred 1:1 to various frequent flyer programs including Air India, Cathay Pacific, Etihad and Delta. PremierMiles don’t expire, so you can transfer them to any program when you need them. You can read my review, albeit a bit dated, here. ICICI & Citibank PremierMiles mileage earning changes for 2014

I wanted to put out this post so that I could remind all of you of certain changes that are supposed to kick in as of January 1, 2014 for Citibank PremierMiles and ICICI Bank Jet Airways credit cards. Citibank PremierMiles had waived off the cap of INR 5,00,000 per annum on Airline tickets spend to earn Accelerated mileage (10 PremierMiles/INR 100 spend) last June as a special promotion. However, this promotion was valid only till December 31, 2013. From January 1, 2014, any airline spend as defined below, will earn 10 PM/INR 100 spend till you reach the limit of INR 5,00,000 for the year, and then you earn 4 PM/INR 100 for airline spends on an on-going basis as…
