Kingfisher might be gone, but there are people who have Kingfisher Airlines reservations out there. I had one for a couple of weeks back, and it took me a while to get it refunded because Kingfisher won’t pick the phone and the online travel agent I booked the ticket with was not going to make a ‘full refund’ till the airline did not update the ticket with instructions.
Kingfisher, being in the dire straits it is, will not offer to put you on another airline if you booked their rock bottom fares and now don’t have a flight. So, you are best up booking on your own on another carrier.
How to get your refund?
Kingfisher was being proactive this time around, and cancelling flights on their own, before the suspension came through. They were also calling passengers to inform of the cancellations, and when they eventually called me, I asked for the full refund, and they requested the TA to provide me with the refund.
However, if you don’t hear from them, you should drop an email to email@example.com with the details and ask them to call you back. This works if you booked directly or via an agent. If you booked via an online travel agent, you should also connect with the OTA to ensure they are on top of the issue. You should also be screening your credit card/ bank account statements to ensure you get your refund in time.
If you have an award booking, too bad, the miles are worth nothing as of now. But do cancel and get your taxes back at least.
