American Express in India is clearly getting some good word of mouth and business via LinkedIn. Like I posted a few months back, American Express had tied-up with LinkedIn, where existing members can refer new members for a potential American Express card.
For the period October to December 2012, that campaign has been renewed. If you have a LinkedIn account, you can refer your contacts there to get a new American Express Credit or Charge Card.
There are some wonderful offers out there, and the Platinum Reserve card available via this promotion is something I’ve begin to like. American Express Platinum Reserve is the 2nd best card in the American Express hierarchy in India, and is a credit card. It comes with a host of benefits along, such as a Priority Pass, limited number of access to the American Express Platinum lounge in Mumbai/Delhi, an ongoing discount with British Airways Business Class, and access to a host of 10x Platinum partners. You also have the capability to “Pay with Points”.
For those of you who are avid miles and points collectors, this is an opportunity to get a boatload of American Express MR points on the cheap. For the Rs. 10,000 annual fees version, via this promotion, you can help yourself to 22,000 Membership reward points, which can be transferred to Jet Airways, Air India, British Airways, FinnAir, Etihad, Cathay, Singapore Airlines, SPG amongst others. The 22,000 MR can be converted to 13,750 JetPrivilege miles, good for a domestic redemption on Jet Airways.
You could also pick up the lifetime version for Rs. 40,000 (plus taxes), where you are getting an exclusive 20% discount on the membership fee. Plus, you get 65,000 MR, which convert into 31,250 JP Miles, Cathay Miles, etc. You could also get a 30% transfer bonus on Avios offered right now, or 20% transfer bonus on Etihad miles.
There is also the American Express Gold Charge Card which comes complimentary for the first year, and you get 1000 MR just to use it 4 times a month. I’ve shown much love to this card over the times, and its got top-notch customer support. Here is my review of this charge card.
So, if you need a referral, get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I could send you one (only if you live in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore). If you want to offer a referral to others, please drop your email address in the comments section and other people should feel free to write to you.
