Marriott introduces the Club Marriott membership program in Asia-Pacific

Marriott recently announced the rollout of its new Club Marriott program in the Asia-Pacific region.  Club Marriott is a paid membership and an easy way to enjoy dining, spa and other privileges at participating Marriott hotels in the region.

Club Marriott is similar to some of the other hotel chain’s dining programs, such as Taj Epicure.

Members get discounts and dining certificates for group dining and can use their personal dining credits across participating restaurants, receive welcome amenities, room discounts on stays, upgrades, and spa vouchers at participating hotels. There is also birthday offers with special discounts during the birthday month as  well as access to exclusive member events.

There are 32 Marriott & Starwood hotels across 17 Indian participating in the program.  The membership is three-tiered and the fee for the base level depends on the hotel you sign up with. For instance, if you are going to sign up with the Courtyard Agra, the fee is INR 8999 plus taxes. In Chandigarh, the price is INR 10000 plus taxes. But in Aerocity Delhi, the JW Marriott is offering three tiers: INR 12,500/INR 17,500/INR 27,500 plus taxes. The first one only gets you base benefits, the second tier gets you one free room night, and the third one gets you one free night in a Suite.

Some of the benefits will be standard across all participating hotels in India :

  • Up to 20% discount on Best Available Rates when booking base category rooms across hotels in India.
  • 20% discount on food & beverage bill at restaurants, applicable for up to a maximum of 10 guests.
  • 5 vouchers offering 30% discount on base category rooms, valid for a stay of maximum 2 nights per voucher. Meaning if you book 1 stay for 4 nights at the JW Marriott Mussoorie under this offer, you will use up 2 vouchers.

You also get benefits across 250 hotels across the Asia Pacific:

  • Up to a 20% off on the food and beverage bill at the restaurants for up to a maximum of ten (10) guests. Savings on premium wines and spirits are offered at select hotels only.
  • Up to a 20% off on the Weekend Best Available Rates. (Subject to availability)

Then there are benefits exclusive to the hotel you sign up with as well. For example, at the JW Marriott Bengaluru, you get a 20% discount on Sunday Brunch for 20 people.

Bottomline:

The Club Marriott membership combines the earlier programs from Marriott and Starwood into one, and banks on having you frequently visit for dining rather than just for a stay. I’m pondering about jumping on it, but still trying to figure out if the Marriott and SPG Platinum Status would be good enough for the benefits which we’d get anyways during our stays.

  1. The club Marriot Membership is just a way To fleece you. For our marriage anniversary on the 13/10 I put in a request on 9/10 in le meridian in delhi. After many phone calls I was informed today late afternoon That no room is available against my complimentary coupon. But a room is available on full payment. This is complete cheating.
But room is available with full payment.
What would you deduce from this.

  2. I purchased JW Bangalore Club plan for 20,000/- I got 3 night stay free , 2 voucher with 50% and 5 voucher with 30%. Participating hotels at 20%. 2 separate voucher with lunch or dinner complimentary for 2. I believe 3 nights stay in JW is sufficient to recover the cost! I hope this is very good as I stay minimum 15 nights in Marriott on monthly. So 20% discount itself can save a lot in an year. Another point – Just now I booked JW Jaipur and when I applied the Seperate voucher code that came along with Club Marriott I got 3 night stay for 2 night pay … total 3 nights stay with breakfast came 14400/-. I believe it’s a special promotion from the hotel. Chennai Westin offered me an extended 5 voucher of 50% which can be used for 2 nights stay !

  3. I am a regular Marriott member fim last 2 years but I don’t find its membership worthy as in its total waste. I redeemed a voucher last night at momos cafe bhopal but after seeing bill I felt like I am cheated. Total waste of money never recommend it to anyone else.

    • I was a Club Marriott member (transferred from Sheraton member) for the last many many years. As a member, we do get the privileges like stay discounted vouchers, dine…..etc. My recent worst experience was, using a the free dining voucher in one of their hotel in Asia. Did the bookings days before the event. On day of dining, showed the usher my voucher and was ushered to 2 bench seats right next to the kitchen. I was like, what is this? is this the kind of service that loyal members are being accorded? How can members be treated like this? I was informed by the service waiter that it’s because the restaurant is fully booked and further “assured” by the service waiter that they will be more attentive by bringing me what I need. All these were just lip service as there was not such service accorded. I felt like, because of the “free” dining vouchers, we were treated like beggars? My membership has just expired and I received a call from the membership department to renew membership for another year. I was so disappointed by the recent incident and informed the staff that unless my concerns was adequately rectify, I shall not consider any membership. The staff told my (nothing official) that he will inform his manager to look into this, till date nothing happens, not even a call on investigation and/or ractifications, except to please continue to buy. Am so disappointed with such membership and it’s services and will never consider buying this membership again, until my issues have been addressed.

  4. Accor plus is a similar programme but is much better, it gives a complimentary night that can be redeemed at participating properties in Asia Pacific (I redeemed mine at Singapore Novotel) and also offers 50% discount on food for two people across Asia Pacific. It also offers some vouchers valid across India and some hotel specific vouchers.
I am currently member of Pullman Aerocity Delhi and membership costs around ₹11000-12000

  5. I have been holding Club Marriott Membership of JW Marriott Bengaluru for the past one year. I must say they have pathetic Service once they have sold you the service. They do not communicate any changes. They aren’t accommodative at the hotel. I have had some discouraging experience although the club marriott program as a product is good
