Earlier this year, Hilton was offering an 80% bonus on points purchased. Now Hilton Honors is back with a 100% bonus promotion through June 7, 2018.
Hilton points are usually priced at $10 for every 1000 Hilton Honors points. Through this promotion, you can purchase a maximum of 80,000 Honors points, which would get another 80,000 bonus Honors points. That means, for 160,000 points, you have a cost of $800, making the cost of 1 Honors point at 0.5 cents (approximately INR 0.35)
Hilton Honors reward nights begin at 5,000 points and go all the way up to 95,000 points on the flexible scale. One of Hilton’s most coveted property, The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island sells for 950 USD per night in December peak season while a night’s redemption costs 95,000 Honors points. Therefore buying 95,000 Honors points will cost you $475, which exactly half of the $950 price.
As a cherry on top, if you have a Hilton elite status and stay for five nights on points, the fifth night becomes free which further brings down the redemption cost to 76,000 HHonors points per night, hence cost per night is also reduced to $380 per night. Now that is a deal!
On the other end of the spectrum, the DoubleTree by Hilton in Agra is available for redemption for 10,000 Honors points. 10,000 Hilton Honors points will cost $50 / INR 3,350, whereas the standard rates at the hotel are quoted all the way from INR 4,500 to INR 6,750. Hence, there is value in this point purchase promotion and using them when hotel rates are high.
Bottomline
If you have been thinking about buying Hilton points, now is a good time to do so. 100% bonus points is by far the best purchase promotion that Hilton offers, and with this redemption, you are only paying 0.5 cents per point.
Although there is value to be had at both ends of the spectrum, keep in mind which Hilton hotels you would like to make use of the redemption. At some hotels, booking a room at a cash price and earning Honors points might turn out to be a better option than redeeming points for a reward night.

Of course you should. And ideally pay for using HDFC DCB 10X international spend- break it up into two payments for 40,000 points each. Should give you INR 18,000 as DCB rewards, which I suspect will be enough for return fare for one (if not two) on KOC-MALE on SpiceJet where no other points are applicable (assuming of course that Rangali is the target destination).
