One of the conveniences of using the SPG mobile app is that you can check-in and to your hotel before arrival. In case the room has been upgraded, the app also reflects the new room category allocated to you.
The Mobile Check-In/Check-Out is a feature available on the SPG app that allows members to start their check-in process within 48 to 72 hours prior to arrival (changes hotel to hotel). This includes mentioning your arrival time, selecting applicable preferences, and opting to receive the final invoice via email at check out. Members will receive a notification on their arrival date when their room is ready and their key packet is available for pickup. On the morning of their departure, guests can check-out using the SPG mobile app.
In order to promote the use of their mobile app, Marriott is running a promotion where members can earn 250 bonus Starpoints every time they check-in using the mobile app. The promotion is valid through June 15, 2018.
During this period, all members who checks-in using the SPG mobile app, at over 1,100 hotels across seven brands will receive 250 Starpoints on each mobile check-in. There is no cap on the maximum number of bonus points members can earn during the offer.

- St. Regis
- The Luxury Collection
- Le Meridien
- Tribute Portfolio
- Four Points
W, Element and Aloft hotels will not participate in this offer as they already have the SPG Keyless feature. You must book your stay directly with Starwood either in the app or online to be eligible. Also, do check about the hotels which participate, here is the complete list.
This is a great offer where you can earn bonus points by just using your mobile app to check-in. If you have stays coming up in the next 6 weeks make sure that you earn extra points. Each Starpoint is good as 3 Marriott Rewards points, so you would earn 10% of a free night just to do a check-in on the app.
