Bottomline

ICICI Bank’s co-branded credit cards are excellent value for money even at the full fee level of INR 5,000, but why not get it at a discounted cost while you can. Just the free movie tickets every year will recoup the cost of the card, and the free tickets and miles will deliver you value on top of everything else.

  1. Can someone upload an excel which can clearly show a permutation combination or a tabular representation of what benefit someone will get and what will be the amount paid as a joining fee and yearly fee etc. just a request Ajay.

    • @Sharan how about you make the worksheet happen? we will be happy to upload it if it fits the description with due credit to you.

  2. I have applied for the card by filling up the form on the link but haven’t received any call and its been 3 days now. What can be done ?

  3. @Kapil,
No, the miles or free tickets are not there for platinum.members when free.

@Anshul, similar to you- a non plat member. In terms of benefits, I do feel Amex Jet has better rewards and lounge benefits.

But as others said, in terms f acceptance and other offers on movies or sometimes travel, ICICI would be definitely much better option.

      • Surprised thn.

The Joining/Renewal benefits of Complimentary Air ticket (applicable on Jet Airways ICICI Bank Sapphiro and Jet Airways ICICI Bank Rubyx Credit Cards) and bonus JPMiles (applicable as per the Card variant) will not be available if Jet Airways ICICI Bank Credit Card members’ Joining/Annual Fees are waived off for any reason

        This from Jet website

        • @Priyansh,

There is an exception in case of JP Platinum members, where they will received all joining/renewal benefits even without paying any fees.

I do remember that earlier that was not the case, so this change might be recent.

I believe JP team might have received a lot of complaints regarding this as, though I am not platinum member, I always used to think that just waiving the fees w/o the benefits is like making a fool of them, since in some cases I believe paying the fees and using the benefits is more beneficial, like say in case of HDFC JP World card where the fees is just 2.5k + GST but you get 1 free ticket and 1 INR 750 discount voucher which to me is more value than the fees.

Overall I’d say it’s a good move from JP team to keep their top tier happy.

  4. With ICICI, one gets both visa and amex cards; while with Amex it’s only one. At any day, Visa card acceptance in India is more than AMEX.
Also you can get benefits of both visa and amex lounge as well as offers.

  5. Hello Ajay,
I am regular reader of your blog,
I know that this is not a credit card review blog but still i wish for you to review Yes First Exclusive Credit Card because it is life time free and also has good reward rate and you can also convert them to JP Miles,
I am sure that readers of this blog will appreciate this very much.

  6. Which one would be a better choice – Jet Airways American Express Platinum Credit Card or Jet Airways ICICI Bank Sapphiro Credit Card, regardless of the fees?

Jet Amex also currently has an offer of 10k extra JP miles if applied through cards.jetprivilege.com .
With current offers on both, any guidance for selection between the two for a non-platinum member?

    • @Anshul, I have both of them so perhaps not the best person to choose for you. But, ICICI gives you the best of both worlds (amex and visa) and that helps a lot in india. given both the cards go at a discount for the first year, you could get both and decide to keep one or the other after 1 year of use.

      • Thanks Ajay. I already have DCB and Prestige. All my travel spends are directed to Diners 10X. With Prestige, I am not chasing another visa just for lack of Amex acceptance. With my not so frequent travel, I am not really a Jet Platinum aspirant! Just need a co-brand Jet card for Dedicated Check-In and Excess Baggage Allowance! I think I’d choose Amex for their exemplary service.

  7. You mentioned plats get the card for free but do they get the points and the free ticket if the card is for free.
