Comments

  1. It seems they still have limited tie-ups with e-comm merchants- I particularly don’t shop much on Flipkart, Shopclues & Jabong so Amazon & Paytm won’t earn me 5x benefit. Similarly, spending on Uber will be limited 1MR /Rs.50

Also, I found a discrepancy in merchant tie-ups available at Amex-
    https://www.americanexpressindia.co.in/pdf/SE_List_1.pdf

    and at Paisabazar-

  2. But, I see that I won’t earn reward points for lots of transactions like Insurance, Utilities (electricity bills, water bills, mobile bills, etc..) which will be the most used monthly. Inspite of this, is it worth going for this card if I already have HDFC Regalia?

  3. Can MR points earned with this card transferred to Amex Airline and Hotel Transfer partners like I do with Amex Golf Charge Card

  4. 10x points on OLA capped at 500pm including base points
10x points on Flipkart capped at 500pm including base points
5x points capped at 250pm across all 5x partners
ie spend Rs. 2500/pm across each of the above three
    Month means calendar month

    • @AS and given this is not a highroller card, it should add to the Membership Rewards balance. I think 2500 worth of groceries, 2500 worth of Ola is more than enough per month, no?

      • Yes. It adds to existing MR account. But payzapp is having better offers for grocery as well as Ola spends. Still it is recommended to have this card considering low fees and fee waiver condition. Please note that not all spend offers(like recent 10pc off offer on amazon, flipkart, ola et al) will be available for this card, so not good if anyone wants it as his only Amex card.

  5. AMEX lets you have 1 Charge card and a max of 2 credit cards at any point of time. Does it make sense to swap the gold credit card with this?

  6. Hey Ajay.. I was on the call with Amex a couple of hours back. I wanted to check out the American Express® Platinum Travel Credit Card and the Platinum Reserve Credit Card. They informed me about the Gold Card. Will be meeting with a rep in a couple of days to check out the features in depth. Was looking for reviews on the Gold card and found your blog Post. Thanks for the info.
