HDFC Bank Regalia Lounge Access Gets Better!

Earlier this year, cardholders of the HDFC Bank Regalia Credit Card got a cryptic SMS about their lounge access on the Priority Pass. We explained the policy here about how HDFC Bank stated that eight times a year Regalia Lounge Access was provided in India, using the credit card itself (MasterCard or Visa). For the international visits, you could use the Priority Pass that came along, and use them six times outside the country for free.

It turns out, after that announcement, HDFC Bank went ahead and made that a much better credit card. Here are some of the features they added to the card over the past few months.

Regalia Lounge Access

First and foremost, there are bonus points on offer. You can now accumulate a bonus of up to 15,000 HDFC Bank Regalia points every year on your spends. HDFC Bank initiated this benefit on April 1, 2018, so you can count your spend after April 1, 2018, for this benefit.

If you can spend INR 5 Lakh within one anniversary year, you get 10,000 bonus Reward Points. If you take up the spend to INR 8 Lakh within the year, you get another 5,000 bonus Reward Points, making it a total bonus of 15,000 bonus Reward Points. Your anniversary year is the 365 days from the day your fee gets billed every year.

Further, you will continue to earn 4 HDFC Bank RP/INR 150 on the card, and all reward points are valid for two years from the date of earning. As a reminder, each HDFC Bank Reward Point earn on the Regalia is worth INR 0.5 when used on the HDFC Bank Regalia website. So the total value of the 15,000 Reward Points is INR 7,500.

Similarly, on the HDFC Bank Regalia First, there are new spend benefits. You get 5,000 Reward Points for a spend of INR 3 Lakh within one anniversary year. When you spend another INR 3 Lakh (total of INR 6 Lakh), you get another 2,500 Reward Points, making the total bonus of 7,500 Reward Points. Each Regalia First Reward Point is worth INR 0.33, so 7,500 Reward Points make it to a value of approximately INR 2,500.

Regalia Lounge Access gets better

The Regalia, which used to offer 2 Lounge Access per calendar quarter (8 per annum), will now get you 12 domestic lounge access in a year, on both the MasterCard and Visa variants of the card. The international lounge access allowance remains six times a year, on the Priority Pass issued along with the Credit Card.

Similarly, the Regalia First now has lounge access for 8 visits per annum for the cardholder included.

Bottomline

This is a very good move for those who are customers of the HDFC Bank Regalia Credit Card or the Regalia First Credit Card. Regalia continues to be one of the biggest premium cards for HDFC Bank, and any new feature they add would make it worthwhile for their customers to hold to the card.

Do you have the HDFC Bank Regalia credit card? What has been your experience so far?

  2. Hi,

I have HDFC regalia first and HDFC platinum debit card. Will both of them be eligible at cochin domestic airport?

    Regards,
    Anirban

  3. At Cochin airport international lounge I was told by the lady that Regalia card can not be used there. I paid for the services taken.
Also I have not been given any priority pass while taking this card from my branch.

    • Latest link for participating lounges can be accessed from HDFC website , the lounges have significantly reduced since last year. Generally, I remember filing a form with initial package to apply for PP. Card with PP is good enough for international travellers. Whereas for Domestic not so much.

  4. My wife accessed New Delhi Lounge using prioirtypass issued by Regalia card in July 18 First week. The Bank changed the rule of free access in India some time in September 2018 and then charged me Rs 2000 for her access in July this is totaly incorrect adn illegal in my opinion. They can not charge backdated transaction.

    • Bhai sahab prioirtypass only for out side of india, k liya hai…. agar india may use karogay they will charge 27 $ india may aap ko sirf apna hdfc ka card use karna hai… they will charge rs. 2 only

    • This thing really caused a helluva lot of confusion. HDFC should explain that priority pass swipes should be done only for international travels. For domestic travels, you get free 12 lounge accesses. But these lounges are only there in the 4+2 metro cities. Not in any other place. If you swipe your priority pass card, then it will be charged 27$.

      • Regalia card still provides domestic lounge access in India or not ?
I am asking this since in their website it is mentioned that the program is valid till sep 2019.

        • See this is not limited to Regalia alone. It is a Mastercard/Visa lounge access program and it is practically there with even basic debit cards. But both Mastercard and Visa have limited the number of lounges significantly. You can check it on HDFC’s site containing details of priority pass.

  5. why the launge facility is not available in terminal 2 for master card? It should be applicable in all the terminal in delhi airport. Other banks are giving the same facility in all terminals in delhi.

  6. Today royal lounge at mumbai International Airport did not allowed Regalia Visa card holder. Only master card holders were allowed to use. They say there is no lounge for regalia card holder here. Toll free no. Was constantly engaged.

  7. Regalia CC Visa Signature – Denied acccess to Travel Club Lounge at Kolkata airport, International air side.

Although it was used to be accepted at lounges within India including International ones; seems like policy change on HDFC bank/visa side

    • Yes only domestic airside travel club is accessible through HDFC regalia . policy change from HDFC not visa.check regalia websitef for new list.only 10 -11 lounges across India are accessable.
Visa signature and infinite variants of other banks still accepted at travel club international departure

  8. When i used Regalia first visa CC in Bangalore and Kolkata I was told that lounge access does not exist. Is that true? This was the domestic airport so i believe priority pass need not be presented. Can someone clarify?

    • Priority pass is for international lounges. Probable in domestic also there is very few lounges where complementary access is permitted. HDFC may like to respond.

  9. Cochin Domestic terminal Earth lounge has not accepted my HDFC Regalia credit Card . Is there a change in the list of airport lounges aggrement with HDFC of lately

  10. I have a regalia card, ill be traveling out of India from hyderabad. Will this card allow access to the international departure lounge at hyderabad

  11. I think it’s the other way round – it’s getting worse. I heard starting November 2018 MasterCard variants of Regalia won’t have free lounge access. And I verified the information at Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata airports. I’ve flown through all of these in the last 2 months and denied entry while the visa variant still has access.

  12. I have regalia hdfc card.I was not allowed at plaza premium lounge atT1 new delhi. Is it not valid there?

    • no chance. There must have been some other issue with the card. I hold the same card and use it once every quarter on an average without any issue at the plaza premium lounge itself.

    • As per the new list of lounges accessible with HDFC regalia (click on the lounge list) only 11 lounges in India are available.plaza premium at T3 (domestic and international)is accessible.T1 is not accessible.

  13. Hello. I hold a Business Regalia first CC. Are the priority pass benefits for international lounge access applicable for additonal cardmembers?

I read that the complimentary limit is 3 per calendar year. So is this the individual limit for each additional member or the total limit for all cardholders in the account.

    Thanks in advance

  14. Denied Access to all 5 lounges in Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport including the mastercard lounge( Ihave regalia first business HDFC credit card) I hardly travel outside india and it was humiliating to be denied entry at every lounge. Some were invitation only so it was ok. but being denied entry to even mastercard lounge was disgusting. HDFC should stop fooling its customers. My PRO begged me to accept this credit card which I was not in need of saying it has lounge access.

    • @Chinmay, lounge access international is valid only when you present the priority pass that comes along with Regalia. not when you present the card itself. If you don’t read the rules, why is it the Bank’s fault?

      • I showed them the Regali card once along with the priority pass and they swiped my priority pass and I was charged a fee. That was my first international usage for a lounge. Not the best experience. It’s weird why there’s no consice and presice overview of the exact rules. Most people don’t read all the books and notes they get with the card and most of those rules change from time to time. There could be a simple updated bulleted text on the website or something.

  15. I am having HDFC Regalia Card, my query is whether the add-on card carry same features while accessing domestic airport lounges (i.e. complimentary lounge visits)?

  16. Just visited master card lounge on Mumbai airport terminal 1 and was denied as Regalia card is not acceptable and said this can used onl at Terminal 2 lounge…..Got access by using ICICI card which I hardly use. Please note as regalia is a premium card and need to be accepted at all domestic lounge.

  17. Pls requested sir I am from India at taminadu Chennai my background knowledge reader’s digest indiatoday award winner of this 2017 ETYL Panchayti ward member educational knowledge people matters higher educational knowledge

    • Correct. There used to be 26 lounges in 2017, which are 23 in 2018. Besides, there have been many permutations and combinations. In Delhi, for all 5 lounges they have gone for Plaza Premium; a good lounge like ITC Green has been left out. The Plaza Premium lounges in Delhi are very crowded, like weekly market places in rural India.

  18. “For the international visits, you could use the Priority Pass that came along, and use them six times outside the country for free”

so no charge on using Priority Pass at International Lounges?
