Extra baggage allowance on Emirates for a limited time

For those of you travelling to your home this month or the next ones, Emirates has some good news. Economy passengers are getting extra baggage allowance depending on their sectors. For instance,  Economy passengers travelling to India till October 31, 2018, will be granted additional Emirates baggage allowance of 10 kg to select destinations.

The nitty-gritty is this. The extra allowance is only for Economy tickets, purchased in UAE, originating from Dubai to select destinations all over the world. The ticket must be bought by October 31, 2018, for travel until December 13, 2018. However, for India, the offer is valid only on tickets to Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad. You’ll also need to travel by October 31, 2018.

If you’re a Skywards member, you can add on more allowance to this offer. Do keep in mind that reward tickets are not entitled to this offer. Neither can you claim the extra allowance on existing bookings.

Search for the flight you want, and click through to the Review Trip Itinerary page on emirates.com to see the added baggage allowance. After that, if the additional allowance is still not displayed, it is not applicable for the itinerary being booked.

Bottomline

Bags are always slightly heavier on the way back home. This offer lets you take advantage of the extra Emirates baggage allowance without shelling out more coin. I would recommend to take a look at the offer before purchasing your tickets to India this October.

  1. Seems bizarre to keep out many of the other airports in India, including Trivandrum, the other major airport in Kerala after Kochi. Wish this extended to flights from Europe and North America as well.
