A new Etihad Guest SBI Card is on its way

Three years ago, when Etihad Airways was gung ho on the Indian market and had bought out Jet Airways and was flying the A380 out of India and all was well in the world, I had mentioned a deal between Visa and Etihad Guest, which pointed to the development of a product for the Indian market.

We heard nothing of it for the past couple of years as Etihad went about its own share of problems, but last evening, an email surfaced in my mailbox, talking about a new partnership between Etihad Guest and SBI Cards.

It did not mention a co-brand credit card per se, but why on earth would someone send you a mailer just to tell you about the addition of a new partner to redeem miles with. So I went ahead and registered interest anyways. And here is the confirmation that an Etihad Guest SBI Card is in the works and coming next week.

While I have no idea about what this new card is about, I’ll keep you posted in the days ahead once the card is ready to go live.

What do you think will the Etihad Guest SBI Card bring to your wallet? Happy to hear your thoughts below.

  1. AJ,

What is really missing is a hotel co-branded card. Would really love it if Amex could launch its Marriott/Hilton cobranded cards in India; or if Chase could tie up with some Indian banks to launch its Hyatt/Marriott/IHG cobranded cards here.

    Regards
