10 Luxury Hotels to look forward to in 2019 in India

January is when some of us plan our holidays for the year. Every year, many new hotels open shop. Here is a roundup of 10 luxury hotels which we are excited to see open up this year as we did for the last year.


1. Four Seasons, Bengaluru

Bengaluru will soon get India’s second Four Seasons. The hotel is located at Embassy One at Hebbal, which is pretty close to the airport. They have now started accepting bookings for stays from May 1, 2019. Bengaluru is the third largest Hotel market in India, and with Four Seasons opening there, the luxury hotel market will go a notch up.

2. Taj Theog, Shimla

Shimla is getting another luxury hotel. Shimla has two luxury hotels: Oberoi Wildflower Hall and Oberoi Cecil. Now Taj is making its foray in Shimla with the Taj Theog Shimla. The Taj Theog will open its doors February 1, 2019.

Taj Theog stands almost coniferous surrounded by the mesmerising skylines of the Himalayan range. Inhabited by conifers, cedars, broadleaved oaks and rhododendrons, the region around is punctuated with apple orchards, hamlets, cultivated terraces, snow-fed lakes and gushing rivers. Bountiful as they come and making each of the 99 rooms and suites a vantage perch that warms your cockles.

3. Taj Rishikesh Resort and Spa

Taj Rishikesh is a 12.5-acre resort is surrounded by the Himalayas and is an hour drive from Rishikesh. It is a mountain resort located in Singthali. It is nestled in the Himalayas and will have an eco-friendly design along with local architecture. The hotel will have an All Day Diner, Speciality restaurant, Bar and terraces along with Jiva Spa.

4. Six Senses Fort Barwara, Jaipur

Six Senses Fort Barwara, Jaipur

Six Senses is entering India with its first heritage property due to open in late 2019. Located 100 kilometres from Jaipur, the property stands on the restored site of a 700-year-old fort in Chauth Ka Barwara village. An all-suite hotel with just 48 beautifully designed suites, the Six Senses Barwara is expected to give its guests a taste of royalty in the middle of a local village in India.

5. The Chedi, Mumbai

The Chedi, Mumbai

Singapore based General Hotel Management company is bringing its luxury brand The Chedi in India. Offering great views of the Powai lake, The Chedi will offer game-changing luxury in India’s City of Dreams, Mumbai. The 312 rooms and suites at the hotel will soar above 20 floors and will be divided into eleven distinct categories. Of these there are eight different types of suites guests can choose from.

6. Hilton Resort, Goa

Hilton currently has two hotels in Goa both under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand. Hilton will now open the third property under the Hilton brand. It is located in the tropical forests in Saipem hills, Candolim in North Goa. It isn’t a beachside property but is close to Candolim and Calangute beaches.

7. ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata

ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata is located adjacent to the ITC Sonar, Kolkata. It is will be a 456 key hotel and would be among the tallest buildings of Kolkata with a commanding view of the entire city.

8. ITC Narmada, Ahmedabad

ITC Narmada will take the luxury hotel bar a bit higher in Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad has a lot of upscale hotels but no luxury hotels so far. The hotel will comprise of 294 guest rooms & suites. ITC will be incorporating local architectural elements and taking inspirations from the same. This is the hotel that I am looking forward especially for the restaurants that ITC will bring in.

9. Grand Hyatt Gurgaon

Grand Hyatt Gurgaon will be the third Grand Hyatt in India after Grand Hyatt Mumbai and Grand Hyatt Kochi. Grand Hyatt Gurgaon will have 442 rooms. It is expected to open up in 2019. Grand Hyatt Residences will also come up as a part of the project, and there will be a Metro line stretching to the hotel as well.

10. Hyatt Regency, Dharamshala

Dharamshala has a lot of boutique hotels. Currently, ITC operates a hotel under WelcomHeritage brand. Hyatt Regency Dharamshala will have 89 rooms. Not much information is available now. Work is going on at full swing to open up the hotel as soon as possible. It is another mountain resort on our list. Hyatt might have picked one of the most underrated and perfect places to open up a hotel in India.

    I was planning for a trip from last many days and was looking out for the luxury hotel, but didn’t get any.
