Changi Airport to inaugurate The Jewel on April 17, 2019

Singapore’s Changi Airport is probably the best airport in the world. Every year, they keep on raising the bar. Changi Airport already has endless art installations, countless shopping and F&B options, many hotels to stay and to top it off, a variety of gardens, from a Butterfly Garden to the Orchid Garden. So what more does an airport offer?

This year, Changi Singapore is set to open up The Jewel. Changi Airport on April 17, 2019. The dome-shaped Jewel is being built at a cost of USD 1.3 billion and has over 1.4 million square feet of space spanning over ten floors.

The Jewel is built over what used to be Terminal 1’s open-air car park. It was conceived in 2013 as a part of a long term strategy to improve the competitive position of the Changi Airport. The Jewel will serve as an extension of Singapore’s “City in a Garden” philosophy.

The Jewel will have 5 levels above the ground and 2 basement levels which will house all attractions, aviation facilities, parking facilities and so-on.

The show stoppers include Rain Vortex, Forest Valley, Canopy Park, Canopy Bridge and Sky-Nets. There are other attractions also like Discovery slides, Canopy Mazes and so-on. The topmost level of the Jewel which houses the Canopy Park and Bridge will open in mid-2019 whereas the rest of the attractions will open on April 17, 2019.
