Major #Paxex: Mumbai Airport gets a salon!

One of the services I’ve always missed inside an airport has been a salon. I’ve seen a lot of fancy spas in airport lounges across the globe, and also for public use. I’ve also seen salons inside airport lounges, for instance, the Six Senses one at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad First Lounge which has now shut down, or the Spa operated by Elemis for British Airways customers at London T5 Lounge where one could get a quick nail paint touch up done.

However, for the life of me, I never seen an airport salon. I even took this proposition to Truefitt and Hill where I’d usually end up for my salon services, but seems like it never worked. After all, how much work can you get done with non-sharp knives or blunt edge stuff. Remember, at an airport sharp objects are in short supply.

But the good news is, now Mumbai Airport will get a new unisex salon inside any airport in the country. I’m not sure if airports around the globe have one, I’m sure there is some US or Europe-based airport which I haven’t been has  the facility. Come September 10, 2019, a new salon will open up at Mumbai Airport.

What’s interesting is that the salon will price on a time-based model, and will charge for services under three heads,

  • Express (services under 15-20 mins)
  • Deluxe (30-45 mins service)
  • Primante (services above 45 mins)

This unisex salon offers an array of beauty, hair, skin and nail care services which will be available to passengers at Terminal 1-C, Departure, Opposite Gate 26 and at Terminal 2, Domestic Departure, next to Irish Café. The pricing starts at INR 350 only, but I am not sure how much a haircut or a shave will cost, which is the one thing I am most interested in. Oh, and no free access with any credit card or Dragon Pass at the moment.
