Yesterday, the Government of India notified that they will not be admitting anyone into India from the entire European continent, including those Indians who are returning from/via European soil to India. Turkey is also included in this notification. These passengers need to have boarded a plane to India before 1200 GMT on March 18, 2020 (tomorrow) to have a shot at getting back in the country. The advice is valid equally for Indian and European carriers.
Owing to this, Air India UK has ensured some flights will operate on March 18, 2020, to Europe to bring as many people back from Europe as possible:
- AI 161/162 Delhi – London – Delhi
- AI 111/112 Delhi – London – Delhi
- AI 153/154 Delhi – Vienna – Delhi
- AI 121/120 Delhi – Frankfurt – Delhi
- AI 143/142 Delhi – Paris – Delhi
- AI 113/114 Delhi – Birmingham – Delhi
- AI 171/178 Ahmedabad – London – Bengaluru

Additionally, Air India has retimed some of its flights on March 18, 2020, to ensure that they make it in and out of the United Kingdom before 1200 GMT.
Like you note, Air India will cancel all flights to the United Kingdom and Continental Europe till March 31, 2020. This means flights to Paris, Vienna, London (Heathrow and Stansted), Birmingham, Madrid, Milan, Rome, Copenhagen, Frankfurt and other destinations will be not operating for the days ahead.
Various airlines are going to announce similar measures in the days ahead, so if you are still in Europe, and want to get back to India, please make sure you get back on a plane shortly.
