Department of Telecom has given the final go-ahead for in-flight connectivity a few days back. Airlines are gearing up to launch in-flight wifi. Some are already equipped to offer wifi while some may have to start from scratch.
Take that as a hint, Jet Airways is now actively looking (perhaps!) for wifi implementation on their planes, and it could be a big differentiation for them if other carriers don’t follow through on their lead. Here is why I say they have taken the lead on wifi implementation

It may soon be true that you can use wifi while flying in Indian airspace, which means local airlines in India may be able to install wifi offerings on their planes as well. Should be exciting!
The mailbox had a sweet piece of news this afternoon from Lufthansa. Lufthansa clearly looks at India as a valuable market, as has been signified by their introduction of the Boeing 747-8i in India at an early stage, their investment in a lounge in Delhi and the upgrade of the business class in flights from Mumbai. Today, I spotted an interesting piece of news tucked away in a corner of a mailer from LH. FlyNet is the Lufthansa wifi internet offering, and LH has been trying to get as many planes equipped with on-board wifi as fast as possible.
