Jet Airways enhances domestic redemptions, guts international premium redemptions across network w.e.f. September 1, 2014

Earlier Posts: Jet Airways inadvertently exposes new redemption structure Jet Airways retracts new redemption structure Jet Privilege announces new earning structure w.e.f. August 1, 2014 Whenever an airline makes it very easy to earn miles, they also come to a point where they devalue them, and call them adjustments. However, in the case of Jet Airways, they released the new redemption rules by mistake last week, and my determination was that the airline is slashing miles required on many a domestic routes but redemptions on international routes are going to be hit very hard. Today, they officially released the new redemption chart, and have given us a month to utilise the old redemption chart before they go through with the…

What is the fuss with Jet Airways not clearing upgrades?

Some things are like the Unicorn, and getting a Jet Airways voucher upgrade is like one of them. Jet Airways gives out a certain number of paper upgrade vouchers to elite members of the Jet Privilege program: 1 to Silver, 3 to Gold and 5 to Platinum members. I had explained the use of these vouchers in this post a couple of years back, and the same rules exist still. Upgrades are not so hard to use in any other program that I am a member of, such as American Airlines. Many a times, you can get instant confirmations, and at other times they will place you on an upgrade waitlist, which is known to everyone, is rule based, and…

Jet Airways and Etihad Airways announce reciprocal benefits

Last year, Etihad completed the purchase of 24% equity stake in Jet Airways, as a part of building its own equity alliance. As a part of the alliance, usually most other airlines enter into a reciprocity with Etihad’s own loyalty program whereby the guests of both programs are granted privileges on each other’s metal. With Jet Airways, this has been a long time coming, and I suppose Etihad has been waiting to complete their acquisition of 51% of Jet Privilege to be able to integrate the two. This transfer only completed as of April 2014. Anyhow, the good news is, that as of today, the reciprocal benefits have been announced by both the carriers. First lets take a go at…

If you are not already on Jet Airway’s JetPrivilege frequent flyer program, and are planning to signup, now is the time to do so and lap up 2,500 bonus JPMiles for the enrolment. Jet Airways, via Google, has given out a link for new enrolments which get credited with the bonus after signup. Here is a screenshot of their banner which turned up on FlyerTalk this morning. You can access the enrolment…

Reminder: 4 days to get 20% bonus on conversion to JPMiles

Jet Airways has been running a lucrative 20% bonus on conversion of your points to JPMiles for a while now. It comes and goes every now and then. In the current avatar, the following banks/loyalty program points are being converted to miles with 20% bonus: American Express Citibank India/UAE (ex PremierMiles issued in India) HDFC Bank HSBC IndusInd Bank Kotak Payback Punjab National Bank SBI Card Standard Chartered Bank (India/UAE) Tata Cards RBS Additionally, there is a promotion on conversion of Hotel loyalty points into JPMiles as well, which will expire on 31 December 2013 as well. Not the greatest, in my belief, however, some of you might want to use it to top off your JP accounts as well.…

Etihad acquires 24% in Jet Airways and majority stake in JetPrivilege

Jet Airways has completed the induction of Etihad Airways as a 24% shareholder in the airline, following the initial announcement of this deal in April 2013. Under the deal, Jet Airways issued new shares to Etihad Airways, and the stake of the founder/promoter of the airline, Naresh Goyal, is now down to 51%. James Hogan, who is the CEO of Etihad Airways, and James Rigney, who is the CFO, have also come on the Board of Directors of Jet Airways. In a related move, JetPrivilege, the loyalty program of Jet Airways, which was spun off into a separate company last year, also got sold with 50.1% stake of the JP program now with Etihad. Like I have stated earlier, there…

JetPrivilege offering 2,500 miles for new accounts

JetPrivilege conducts membership drives from time to time to enrol new members, and this is one more of those, where a new member would get 2,500 miles to enrol with the JetPrivilege program. While the duration of the promotion is unspecified, only new members should enrol using this link, because existing accounts won’t get any bonus miles to enrol again, and opening a new account is useless for you since you’re allowed only one JP account under the terms of the program. Mileage credits are usually instantaneous, or within a few hours. So, if you intend to be crediting miles to JetPrivilege for flights on Jet Airways or other partner carriers, this may be a good deal to get started.…
