SPG has just unveiled their “Take a spin with SPG” sweepstakes which seems to bring quite some serious points on the table for participating. As per the DNA, it seems Hilton Worldwide’s partnership with Eros Resorts & Hotels Limited in Delhi will be ending in the next couple of months. This may be a speculation at the moment, however, most of these speculations somehow have a way of coming true. For all my travels, I am not to be seen at SPG properties too often. I did stay with them enough in 2011 to be Gold all of last year (2012), but I was back to being base level this year. But Starwood thinks I am on-track to getting Gold Status this year, so they sent in a mailer this AM, with a targeted upgrade to Instant Gold, all the way to February 2015. One of the lesser known aspects of being a member of the Starwood Preferred Guest program is that you usually get a 15% discount at most restaurants in SPG properties for dining in. You also get points for your dining at these SPG properties. However, SPG has recently launched a promotion, with 29 participating restaurants in India, which takes it to a whole new level. With the SPG Triple Benefits being offered from July through September, at the 29 participating restaurants, you get the 15% off on your dining bill anyways. Starwood Preferred Guest, the loyalty program of Starwood hotels, has offered via a tie-up with MasterCard for Asia Pacific card members, SPG Gold status for one year just on completing one stay in the past. This promotion has just returned for the period till 12 July 2015. Just when vacation plans are already locked in and I’ve made quite a few reservations for the coming days, there is a flurry of sales that have hit my inbox today. I figure some of you may be interested in taking another vacation slightly cheaper. SPG has announced a resort sale in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean which offers up to 40% off for bookings made till July 6 and stays can be made till September 30, 2012. SPG reneges on the $20 upgrade offer in Asia-Pacific.

A couple of days I wrote about the SPG offer in the Asia-Pacific, where the promotional mailer and the website stated that if you booked by March 31, 2012, you could get an upgraded room for $20 over the ‘standard rates’. As the offer is made out to be, it just needs to be prepaid. However, when I tried comparing, all I could come up with was 60-80$ upgrade offers, no less.
