The WOW Air-Icelandair takeover deal went south yesterday. But overnight, WOW Air seems to have found a new investor in Indigo Partners who’ve invested in a number of LCCs.
WOW Air, which was on track to being acquired by Icelandair, has been left at the altar as Icelandair is walking away from the deal. This means WOW Air has a lot less oxygen left to go on and survive a tough winter ahead.
WOW Air is being acquired by Icelandair for a transaction price of $18 million. This saves the airline from extinction and gives it the opportunity to thrive all over again.
WOW Air, the Icelandic LCC, currently flies to 16 destinations in North America. Now, WOW Air is cancelling flights to 5 USA destinations as of October 2018. This means fewer connection opportunities for passengers to/from India, where they start operations in December.
WOW Air and Air Italy have come out with important updates regarding their India schedules. WOW has opened bookings for the Summer while Air Italy will only be flying out of Delhi and Mumbai from December 2018, instead of October 2018.
Flying WOW Air anytime soon? Don’t be surprised if you see Butter Chicken or Biryani on the pre-order menu on flights in and out of India. Water on-board is free, as long as you flying over India.

WOW Air has confirmed the launch of Indian operations, and their one-way tickets between the two countries are at INR 13,499/$199 only!
Today we can confirm that WOW Air will be launching the first direct flights between India and Iceland in December 2018. As an ultra-low-cost carrier, expect to pay for everything but hope that the fares are dirt cheap too!
WOW Air is probably planning to start direct flights to Delhi, to connect India not just to Iceland but to the USA via their hub in Reykjavik airport. An announcement is imminent, and this could be the start of low-cost long-haul flying from India.
