Jet Airways’ First & Business pax can now book meals on international flights

One of the recent enhancements that Jet Airways has rolled out, albeit quietly, is the ability to book your meals ahead of the flight. With effect from December 1, 2014, passengers who fly their First or Business class cabins on international flights will be able to pre-order a meal ahead of the flight, between 60 days to 48 hours prior to departure.

You can choose to book a meal when you are booking your ticket online, or using the manage your booking section on the flight. The choices work surprisingly smoothly. To take the feature for a test drive, I pulled up a reservation for later months, and here is what I saw…

I further poked the Select Meal option, and I was given 3 options for breakfast on a day flight. Have a look:

I selected the French Toast, and on the return leg I chose the Wok fried Chicken with Tamarind Sauce. It was very easy to save the options…

Now lets see how this will work out in terms of delivery, when I get on the flights in a few weeks. But overall, with the focus coming back on in-flight catering as a part of the transition to a Full-Service Carrier again, this looks to be a welcome enhancement. I’m usually not a person who decides ahead about what he wants to eat, except if I am on a carrier where I know if I don’t order ahead the food will be horrible (some of the international carriers do have inedible food!) But this should for sure help you save your choices if you are one of those people who eat the same thing every time on flights if you can help it. Maybe you like it too much or maybe you think it is the safer option! 😉

  1. I booked my meal a couple of days back on BOM-HKG sector. But like typical Jet, the cabin crew did not have any information and handed over a menu. I told them I had preselected the meal but they seemed clueless.
