Lounge Review: Carnations Lounge, Mumbai Terminal 1C

Mumbai’s Terminal 1C is my go-to lounge when travelling domestically from Mumbai, and it also houses the American Express Lounge for Mumbai, as well as a small sitout area for Diners Club Cardholders.

While I’ve put out a review of this lounge earlier, I recently realised those reviews were dated, when I was putting out a summary of all the lounges which are accessible around Mumbai Airport. So, here is a new review, from my visit as recent as two days ago.

The Carnations Lounge is situated across gate A2 airside on Terminal 1C. So, if you are flying Jet Airways or Indigo, you potentially have access to this lounge. However, the big if there is that your flight needs to be using an aerobridge and assigned to gates starting with an A. There are a lot of flights from Mumbai Terminal 1B such as those for Indigo, SpiceJet and JetKonnect, which may not be using the A gates, and hence not able to access the lounge.

At the reception, you are able to present your boarding pass and a Jet Airways representative scans you in, if you are a Jet Airways elite. Some of the lounge staff are working the terminals they have with Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa and American Express or your Priority Pass, and you are able to access the relevant lounges depending upon the card you present.

This particular Friday, the lounge was full with the road warriors and the weekend holiday makers all heading out. The section for Diners Club was also full.

The lounge has sort of become over crowded over a period of time, and I am hoping the eventual shift of the domestic operations to Terminal 2 will ease things out.

In terms of food & drinks, there was the usual supply of soft drinks and bottled water, and you need to go over to a bar counter to be able to collect the drinks. The food layout is usually an assortment of fruits and warm snacks. This evening it was no different. There was pasta, fruits, some finger food and an Indian hot snack as well. Almost every time I’ve taken a flight in the morning, I also notice an Idli steamer working as well.

I did not stay any longer than required, since this was a crowded place on this visit, and I’d much prefer the open space of the airport.

  1. Hi

I visited the lounge and I was really upset with the setup since we had to pay for the lounge which was a waste for me since I didn’t even sit for more than 40 mins.

    Following points

    No housekeeping inside the lounge.

The reception doesn’t know the email id on which to complaint a show she was not even able to answer any thing.

    Shabby washroom

    Stinking sofas

Didn’t even eat a proper food

Wen asked ab to the email id to the restaurant manager he was not bothered et all.

I would McEnroe visit this lounge again.

    Thnks

  2. By seeing the behavior/gestures of their front desk staff , dint enter the lounge..
Carnations Lounge pls give training to your staff to be polite.

  3. Dear AJ
You checked out most of the facets of the Carnations Lounge, but obviously you could not visit the toilet area, which is at the end of the left lane after entering past the bar.
The less said about this facility the better.Moving in the general direction you realise you have reached, when your nostrils are assailed by a combined stench of urine and stale cigarette smoke.
Once you do manage to overcome this ,the actual toilets would make any one puke.
What surprises me is that top end brands use this facility for their top end clients but do not bother to check this out!!!
